Imagine a World that Owns It

IN ONE MONTH
If the Own It Population gave in the amounts recommended to fix the planet, we would create jobs because we'd be directing up to $126.66 billion dollars every single month to causes that clean up our footprint.

For carbon sequestration, up to $86 billion would be spent. Biologists, botanists, and landscapers would be hired to plan and plant more green on the land and in water. Scientists and engineers would be in demand to develop long-term technological advances.

About $30 billion would go to hiring social workers, health-care givers, builders, farmers, and more professionals to help people in poverty find a better life.

Nearly $11 billion would be steered toward scientists, engineers, oceanographers, and biologists getting plastics out of waterways.

Remember, these are monthly figures. Then there is the support staff in all these industries. Plus, people would be doing work they knew mattered. Kids in schools would be encouraged to pursue the sciences and engineering because we were on a trajectory to fix this planet and live harmoniously on it, for good.

Imagine the kind of attention our focusing that kind money is going to get from government and business. They'll know we care enough to spend like our hearts tell us. They'll adjust policy and product manufacturing to be more in line with a caring and active populace. Finally, we'll have stuff made right the first time instead of having to clean up after. This is a way more healthy and efficient model.

ECONOMIC STABILITY
Owning It is great for the economy. We will still spend money, so there will be no economic downturn. Saving the planet is great for business — there will be less climate stress illness, less dollars spent on post-storm clean-up, and, with ecosystems stabilized and nurtured, there will be more food more widespread, which fosters political stability.

We do it all by living the life we do best: looking after our deepest needs and desires and acting in the best interest for our community and earth. When you consider this plan can do that and fix the planet by 2050, resistances to giving it a go just don't hold up. Go ahead and give it a try--start with pledging to offset 113 tonnes of carbon a year to see the earth begin to cool by 2050. It can be done for as little as $12 a month, a bargain! Especially when you consider the alternatives if we don't act now.
